The U16 program is geared towards talented rising Freshmen and rising Sophomores (at the end of the spring semester in 2012. Graduation years 2015/2016)
The team will focus on the development of skills geared towards top high school play and introduction of the college game. All players receive equal playing time with regular practice attendance. We focus on teaching the players how to set goals, work towards them with a positive work ethic, and in turn they will find success.
The team will be playing in the Varsity division of Homegrowns summer league on either Monday or Tuesday night at St. Thomas University in St. Paul.
Practice times will be announced very very soon. (We just got word for homegrown days so we are planning with that info).
Head coaches will be Travis Sander (head coach of Stillwater boys Varsity), and Carson Cannon (university of Denver, Stillwater grad.) All of our other coaches will also work with all teams so players can learn from all coaching styles.
Structured practices with practice plan includes:
-entering with a positive work ethic
-offensive concepts, game play, skills
-defensive concepts, game play skills
-footwork, dodging, slides, recognition of slides
-proper goalie mechanics and terms.
-introduction of the recruitment process.
-and much more when coaches meet closer to start of season. additional drills, advice, schemes will be listed in player handbok.

**Our coaching staff is always available for you the player for on and off field consultation. When it comes to player looking to improve we encourage the player to be pro-active, ask questions, and benefit as much they can from the program. Our staff is knowledgeable about the game and the recruitment process.
***Team members are expected to follow team guidelines that will be provided in the player profile packet ad read on the first day of practice.
The first step to take is to fill out a "2012 Loons Recruit Form". Download it, fill it out, and email it back. Our staff will try to get the opportunity to watch you play, or follow up on some details listed in the form. We plan to have tryouts at some point in May 2012.
Our coaches take the time to look for not only talented players, but the character of the individual and how they carry themselves through all situations while supporting their team on and off the field.

STAR OF THE NORTH: June 16, 17
A local tournament in Minnesota that will jump start the team into the summer play. This tournament will help create chemistry amounst players. Aprox. 5 games to be played. Team manager will film all games. Transportation and meals will be the responsiblilty of the player, but snacks and water will be porvided during games for nourishment.

Chicago Lacrosse Cup: June 18, 19, 20
A Tournament the Loons have attended since it inception. The Chicago Lacrosse Cup is a group opportunity for the team to be seen by college coaches without having to travel to the east or west coast`s. Many of our players have had thier first opportunity to be seen by college coaches at the Chicago Lacrosse Cup. Our team will play teams mainly from the midwest but have played teams from across the nation in the past. During the "down times" last year the team made a trip to "Lake Michigan and hosted the "First Annual Chicago Lacrosse Cup Oylmpics", which are fun team building events,

-Team will stay at a near by hotel (provided)

Ohio State Team Camp July 20,21,22 2012
The camp is a Round Robin format followed by a 2-day Championship Tournament. Each team will play a minimum of 7games. All games are played on the nations bes tathletic facilities including grass, astro-turf and field turf surfaces. All games will be officiated by certified officials.
Each camper will receive a professionally filmed DVD of his team playing in one game. The 2012 All-Star game will again be played in the historic Ohio Stadium. Every team will have a minimum of one player in the all-star game and every player involved receives a DVD copy of the game.
